A closer look at the Fiat 500L

The Italian car manufacturer Fiat, has revealed the all new Fiat 500L. Growing in popularity over the past five years, the Fiat 500 has been a dominant edition in its segment across the UK and Europe, and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing.

The all new Fiat 500L offers more convenience and even more technology compared to its predecessor; 40% of all the car’s components are new, and the 500L will be available in three different versions: Urban, Cross and Wagon. Offering a unique combination of spaciousness and personality, the 500L is a welcome addition to the Fiat family.

Featuring a range of safety features, which are central to the car’s design, the 500L is also spacious and bursting with personality. The interior of the car has undergone a complete transformation, and now features an updated high-tech dashboard design; the top of the dashboard conveying a fresh personality and the lower half dedicated to a more convenient driving experience, including the introduction of larger storage compartments and the introduction of a central armrest. The gearstick has also been moved to a higher up position, offering greater driving comfort.

For those looking for additional space can find it with the 500L, which provides a boot volume of 455 litres (when the rear seats are in the forward position) in both the Urban and Cross models. The Wagon version of the 500L offers 493 litres of boot space when the rear seats are in the forward position; when the rear seats are folded, the boot capacity grows further, with the Urban and Cross models benefiting from 1480 litres of space and the Wagon boasting 1509 litres of boot capacity.

Adventurous types would preferably opt for the Cross version of the 500L, which comes complete with new bumpers and a skid plate, a two-colour diamond finish and 17-inch alloy wheels. Designed specifically with crossover in mind, the Cross has a ground elevation which has been raised by 25mm compared to its predecessor and comes with the all-new Uconnect HD Live 7-inch touchscreen and Mode selector, which provides a variety of driving options, including Normal, Traction+ and Gravity Control.

In relation to the 500L’s connectivity and technological advancements – there are many. The next-generation Uconnect system features a Bluetooth interface with audio streaming, text reader and voice recognition, AUX-in and USB ports with iPod integration and controls on the steering wheel. The 500L also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it more connected than ever before.

With a starting price of £16,195, the Fiat 500L is an affordable option for motorists looking for a vehicle with optimal performance and an impressive fuel economy. First deliveries of the 500L begin in September 2017.
